My 16 yr old had friends over for a baseball game. We kept the puppy inside most of the day until one of the parents came over to pick up a kid. While we were talking to the parents, dd and her friends went out to knock the ball around again. The puppy (jack russel terrior) got hit somewhere with the hardball! He was laying there still & dazed & confused for a long while! Took him a while to come around...he's still a little slower than his usual self.
Then the mom looked at our trees and said, "you've got those bag worms...they can kill your trees". Now consider that we've got about 20 mature spruce & pine on our property. We've got some tall trees! The worst infected is the approx 40' tall spruce beside the driveway! Dh googled and we can tear off as many of the cocoons as possible now & then spray with malathion in June when the buggars hatch out. Ugh...we feel so dumb for now knowing what they were, but we're relative new comers to this Indy state.
So we had hotdogs over a campfire for our anniv. dinner. Hey, we saved some money! And a campfire is romantic.
